US Embedded Tactical Trainer (ETT) SGT Clark (R), who has just been shot in the left arm and had another round stopped by his chest plate, has his wound bandaged by Staff Sergeant Anderson (C) from White Platoon, Able Company, 3/71 Cav, 10th Mountain Division, while Staff Sergeant Sears,also from White Platoon, shouts to other soldiers nearby, all while under fire during an ambush near Kamu outpost in Nuristan Privince, north-east Afghanistan, 14 May 2007. Elements of White Platoon were called upon, along with US Embedded Tactical Trainers (ETTs) and ANA from 1st Company, 2nd Kandak, 201st Corps, Afghan National Army, to act as a Quick Reaction Force to a nearby earlier ambush, but minutes after coming accross the first of the dead and wounded they were engaged by insurgents heavily dug into the mountainsides and got caught up in a major firefight. By the end of the day there were 15 ANA dead, 4 wounded, and one believed captured by insurgents. 6 US personnel and 1 Irish photographer were also wounded during the fight. (John D McHugh)
